Guns N' Roses — can someone explain the leaked "village sessions" tracks?
Reportedly around 20 CDs of unreleased Chinese Democracy material was leaked from some second-hand hard drive a label executive's storage locker (?) in 2019. RED and Rutracker don't seem to have any of this, and I wouldn't have patience of listening up to ~25 hours of rough mixes, rehearsal sessions and live outtakes anyway - but with extreme pleasure I'd go through the "most complete" (generally the latest) versions of new GNR songs.
The storage locker contents became available for auction when the fees were not being paid.
There's been a lot of drama involving the person that rounded up the cash from others to buy them, how said person allegedly violated an agreement with GNR management not to leak tracks, etc, etc.
Don't let that to be the focus though. The recordings are legendary. They were going in all kinds of interesting directions. There are at least 4 albums worth of tracks from that snapshot in time in varying stages of completion. Some of it was industrial, some of it was straight rock, some of it was going into unexpected territory. Much of it is excellent. (...More)
