**From One Fan To All Others (Stonehenge STBX 017/018) > FM
I replaced the Genesis Box Set files with the inferior version from the original "The
Shepherd" bootleg, because these versions have not been released in that form. I "brushed
up" the sound a bit (de-hissing, a bit more bass), but most importantly, I deleted the
audience applause at the end of the tracks and replace the last missing second of every
song with already existing ending of the recording.
Sounds Of The Seventies:
Recording Date: 10 May 1971
Venue: Studio T1, Kensington House, Shepherd's Bush
City/Country: London, England
Track List:
1.2.01 The Musical Box (11:54)
1.2.02 Stagnation (8:52)
Producer: Pete Dauncey
Engineer: Adrian Revill
First Broadcast: 31 May 1971
Sources:
From One Fan To All Others (Stonehenge STBX 017/018) > FM
I replaced the existing version of Stagnation with the Archive I version, which
was a little better than the existing one.
Sounds Of The Seventies:
Recording Date: 09 January 1972
Venue: Studio T1, Kensington House, Shepherd's Bush
City/Country: London, England
Track List:
1.3.01 The Return Of The Giant Hogweed (7:51)
1.3.02 Harold The Barrel (2:57)
1.3.03 The Fountain Of Salmacis (7:41)
1.3.04 Harlequin (2:39)*
1.3.05 Harold The Barrel (Mix #2) (2:52)
Producer: John Muir
Engineer: John Walters
First Broadcast: 28 January 1972, * 17 March 1972
Sources:
BBC 6Music Rebroadcast (Virgin Media Version) > FM
I took the BBC6 rebroadcast and added the extra mix of Harold The Barrel as a bonus
track. The Fountain Of Salmacis was thought to be lost, but eventually rebroadcasted
on 14 March 2008.
In Concert:
Recording Date: 02 March 1972
Venue: BBC Paris Studios
City/Country: London, England
Track List:
1.4.01 The Fountain Of Salmacis (8:32)
1.4.02 Story of Old Henry/The Musical Box (12:26)
1.4.03 The Return Of The Giant Hogweed (7:58)
Host: Andy Dunkley
Producer: Jeff Griffin
Engineer: Chris Lycett
First Broadcast: 11 March 1972
Sources:
BBC Master DAT > Pre-FM
The pre-FM BBC transfer was taken and tracks put together, so the setlist actually
reads Introduction/TFOS/Intro, Story of Old Henry/The Musical Box/Band Intros, TROTGH.
Top Gear:
Recording Date: 25 September 1972
Venue: Studio T1, Kensington House, Shepherd's Bush
City/Country: London, England
Track List:
1.5.01 Twilight Alehouse (7:58)
1.5.02 Watcher Of The Skies (7:41)
1.5.03 Get'em Out By Friday (8:41)*
Producer: John Peel
First Broadcast: 09 November 1972
Sources:
BBC 6Music Rebroadcast (Sky) > FM
*BBC Master DAT > Pre-FM
I replaced the pre-FM version of Twilight Alehouse and Watcher Of The Skies of the
transferred DAT tape with the rebroadcasted versions of BBC6 on the 16 July 2008,
because the sound is a bit better. Of course it is arguable that pre-FM versions are
better, but the broadcasted versions sounded a little "fresher".
